Original Turtle Trader is an automated trading software that is built to monitor the market and place trades. This software uses a trend following strategy that’s returned over 330% since 2001.
Today I’ll be informing the Forex community with a helpful review that analyzes this system and what it has to offer our readers.
Original Turtle Trader Review
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a web-site designed the way that this original trend trader is. It’s a breath of fresh air really. I’m getting tired of going to a web page and seeing zero content, an email subscription form and some testimonial videos. Here we have an explanation of this strategy and how it came to fruition through a bet made between two traders, Richard Dennis and Bill Eckhardt. These two traders theorized that “genetics were the determining factor and that skilled traders were born with an innate sense of timing and a gift for reading market trends.” These traders gathered 21 people, taught them how to trade using basic risk management and gave them $1 million dollar trading accounts to grow.
The original turtle trader story is quite interesting but I’m not seeing how this is related to this software. Yes, they claim that the strategy is tied in some how but there really isn’t much of an explanation of what the strategy is outside of a discussion on nature vs nurture. As for the results, the turtle developers provide the community with a handful of impressive backtests. Sadly, there are no live results or even myfxbook demo accounts to verify the viability of this product. While I’m impressed by parts of this web site and the stories that go along with it, there is certainly some missing pieces.
At this point I won’t be providing a recommendation for the original turtle trader. I feel that this development team is on the right path but they need to take a few more strides to prove that this is worth our while. If the system was in the $100 range I would probably take a flier but at $300 I need a much longer track record of trading results.
