FX EA Review: Killa Gorilla

Today I’m looking at a new Forex robot the claims to take advantage of high-frequency trading and a price action strategy, Killa Gorilla. Yes, I didn’t make a mistake when writing the title of the product, it is actually named after a ground dwelling ape. Normally, when I’m looking for an investment opportunity, I prefer to be a little more professional, but I’ll try not to let that get in my way during this different review.

Killa Gorilla Review

The Killa Gorilla FX Master EA is built to “start placing trades within seconds of starting.” The EA is a basket-trader, which means it has elements of both martingale trading and grid systems. Both of these types of strategies are very aggressive and can lead to the destruction of a trading account. The system also includes stoploss, trendprotection, spike protection and induce filter to try and minimize the losses that are frequently seen by robots using these trading methodologies.

The developers tell us that their settings are highly configurable, but no adjustments are required because they do provide default preset settings. They have multiple settings package is available in the members area, so traders can try different strategies that they’ve already put together.

The pricing for the King Gorilla EA is quite peculiar. Traders can use the affiliate edition of the software, which goes $195 per year, but they have to use one of the affiliated brokerages. If traders want to use their own broker, they have to purchase the premium edition which goes for $1495 per year. This discrepancy between prices is extremely large, and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The likelihood of the software working on a brokerage outside of the tested brokerages is less likely, so I don’t see why there should be such a distinct and sharp difference in price.

Trading Results

The trading results section of the website is missing some very important elements. There is no live or demo account available. Currently, the only form of results I’m seeing on this website, are back tests. While I don’t have an issue with back tests, I found that in 2017 they are almost irrelevant. Nearly every single trading system that I’m using on my live accounts is taking advantage of advanced technologies that utilize live data which cannot be reproduced in the back test.

The developers of the King Gorilla EA tell us that they are using new technologies, like high-frequency trading, so it’s hard to believe that these back tests would tell us the whole story.

In order to get a full perspective on this trading robot, I’ll need to see a trading account connected to some sort of statement sharing service. Whether it’s FXStat, or my FX book, it doesn’t matter to me, but this is required.

Client Feedback

Just today I received an email from a concerned client using this robot. He commented below as well, making the claim that he believes the Killa Gorilla EA is tied to malware. It’s his belief that the developers put this malware in the software, in order to use their client’s resources to mine bitcoin.

I’m not going to attack this development team before I know more details. That being said, it’s worth noting that this is a concern, and something that you will have to keep in mind if you are considering purchasing the robot.

Hopefully the developer of the service will visit our review here, and provide us with some sort of clarification, or plan to resolve the problem.

Conclusion

While the trading results isn’t where I wanted, the Killa Gorilla developers are providing a 10 day trial of the software so you can test it out on your own. As far as I’m concerned, a 10 day trial isn’t going to give us enough information about the software because it’s such a small sample size. I don’t want to become a broken record, but I have to reiterate to the developers of the software, that they need to jump into 2017 and start providing us with real trading results.
