Most Important Categories when Picking a Robot
Our analysis of what makes a best Forex EA or robot is based on 7 important categories. Understanding each of these categories is very important when picking out a robot that you can trust with your account.
Gain – we are only interested in systems that are showing a steady gain in overall account size. Accounts don’t have to reach thousands of percentages in order to qualify, as we are content as long as the accounts are consistent.
Monthly Gain – in terms of monthly profit percentages, anything over 3-5% is acceptable. Many robots will naturally start to produce less and less profit over the years. So, it’s important for us to analyze the gain, the monthly gain, and also the recent history. If a robot produced all of it’s best numbers 5 years ago, then we will often advise against it.
Drawdown – the drawdown is incredibly important because it’s the easiest number to use in order to determine the risk level of a robot. For example, if the drawdown is 65%, this means at one point in time the software had -65% in open trades. This doesn’t mean that it resulted in a loss, but it does mean that in the future the software can potentially hold large losses open. The closer this number gets to 100%, the riskier it is. Generally, the best Forex EAs will have a drawdown below 30%, if not even lower.
Account Length – it’s important to know how long a robot is active. Many robots will arrive on the scene with incredible gains in a single month, and then disappear. In the last few months, we’ve been going through all our expert advisor reviews, removing many Myfxbook accounts that crashed. There were over 50 accounts that came out of the gates with a high-risk approach and lost all of their funds within a few months time. So, it’s imperative that vendors provide multiple accounts, showing both long-term and short-term success. If you purchase a robot on just 30 days of evidence, you are taking a risk.
Risk/Reward Ratio – we always analyze the risk/reward ratio of every expert advisor or robot we test. In doing this, we look at the average win, average loss, best trade, and worst trade all in pips. Obviously, depending on the strategy of the robot, these numbers will vary, so a trader’s personal preference comes into play here. We have no issues with large risk reward ratios, as long as the win rate is very high.
Profit Factor – the profit factor is a number that’s been used in testing robots for many years. Basically, it specifies how many times the sum of all the winning trades exceeds the sum of all the losing trades. If this number is high, you are generally looking at a top performing robot.
Average Trade Length – not as important as many of the other categories, but another great indication of how an expert advisor trades. If you prefer short trades, then you will want to see the average trade length below 24 hours. If you prefer long trades, then you can see this number extended to weeks or even months if you appreciate the long game.

Try setting your max orders to 1 and your spread to 6 or 7, they have all this on their website in the FAQ.

First of all thanks for your website and the help you offer. I have bought Forex Fury and run it through Admiral Markets (in Australia) with the Interserver VPS (based in USA). My problem is that I am getting differing results from the demo that I am running with FX Club (based in Cyprus and without VPS). The other day the FX Club demo took 7 trades and the Admiral account took 4 trades, at roughly the same time…..hence my concern
My first question is does the distance with the VPS matter? The second question, does the broker make a difference? I am happy to go with Fin FX and we do have FXCM here in Australia but not the same company as in Europe. I would appreciate any advice as to how best to set my trading account up.

Hi Pete, this would likely be due to the different sizes of the accounts. If the software can open 7 trades at a certain risk level they will, but if it can only open 4 trades to meet the same level of risk it will. It’s for trader safety.

Hi LB, no compatibility issues there. Yes only works with MT4. Yes you can install it on a VPS. I like both systems but I prefer Fury, I would say it’s better for beginners since the installation videos are newer and easier to follow.

No problem LB. Trade 1-2 weeks on demo, when you feel comfortable go live. You can switch to a VPS whenever you like. Yes $300 is sufficient. I don’t use any VPS in Europe currently. Just lowest price Windows VPS is best choice.

I just purchased Forex Fury based on your reviews. I’m wondering if you have tested other parameters. I am currently running on FXCM demo and FX Choice demo accounts with the robot added to both EURUSD and GBPUSD 15m charts. Using the recommended parameters on FXCM it took a GBPUSD trade at close of business (US) Friday and yielded a nearly $900 profit ($50,000 demo). Today, just to test, I changed the trade time on the FX Choice account ($5,000 demo) to 24 hours. Forex Fury has taken trades in both EURUSD and GBPUSD for profits of over $500 in one hours of a.m. U.S. trading. Would you consider this dangerous and I should stay with the 1 hour trading timeframe or is it a good idea that I am testing the trading times for my own optimum performance?

I purchased Forex Fury on the morning of 6/30/15 with great expectations. I have a demo account with PaxForex (based on your website recommendation). On 6/30/15, the Forex Fury install went smooth and shows it is active on my demo account. Between 6/30/15 and 7/1/15, there appears to be lots of movement on the GBPUSD pair. However the Forex Fury did not make any trades. I was wondering if anyone had any Forex Fury trades Between 6/30/15 and 7/1/15. I want to know if Forex Fury is working on my MT4 platform. Do I need to try a different broker?
Go to their FAQ, they address this, probably just need to increase your max spread. If you don’t want a larger spread then get a smaller spread broker.
Just saw answer to my previous question. I would still like to see results of Forex Steam. Does it work on different currency pairs? Can you use them both concurrently on the same MT4 platform?

Hi Andrea, switching accounts is never a problem. They answer within an hour during office hours so it’s never an issue. The videos are also top notch and slowed down for beginners.

My First Trades with Forex Steam EA took place on March 26th.
So i am 2 for 2 trading eur/usd
2 wins (+10 pips each win) and did not take long (only minutes) to reach take profit.
So far, i’m satisfied but its very early.
got 2 more +10 pip wins EUR/USD while sleeping last night.
But the odds may be against me as my fifth trade is next, and i am probably due for my first loss if the 80% win/loss stat holds true.
