In this review, I’m taking a closer look at a new expert advisor that’s combined multiple trading strategies in order to create a winning trading system, Grid Hero. While many traders are frequently disappointed by grid trading, this fact has not stopped this development team from using this method in a new way. It will be interesting to see if this developer is able to avoid major drawdowns, which is historically the issue with this type of trading strategy.
The software is developed by Dave Ng (Chock Hwee Ng), who is located in Singapore. Dave has 2 expert advisors available on the MQL5 market, the second being Project Volas, which is focused on detecting fast price movement when providing trading opportunities. Outside of the MQL5 community, there is no real information on this developer. In order to get in touch with support, traders can direct message Dave through his MQL5 profile.
Grid Hero Review
The Grid Hero EA “uses a revolutionary grid algorithm (P.A.M.A) together with a signature synergy of price action trading and an artificial instincts self adaptive processing unit.” I don’t know about you, but while that sounds amazing, it comes across as a lot of gibberish to me as well. Dave also tells us that the system used some sort of reverse to sampling development methodology that has allowed the system to show profit in a 13 year back test.
The EA comes with a built-in news filter, time filter, volatility filter and spread filter. Considering the system is frequently looking for scalping opportunities, it is important that the developer has included these filters to ensure that the software isn’t trading when the market is at its most erratic points.
The system works best when the market is ranging, with a minimum deposit of $3000, on low spread brokers with a 1:400 leverage. These are all recommendations that come directly from the developers sales page, so it’s very important the traders tick every single one of these boxes if they plan on utilizing the software. This is really the case with any EA that I review, like Belkaglazer or Apogeum Price Action.
- Type: Forex Robot
- Price: $488
- Strategy: Grid, Scalping, Price Action
- Timeframe: H1
- Pairs: EURUSD
Currently, traders can access the Grid Hero robot for free on demo, or purchase a license for $488. The license is also available for lease on shorter-term periods, such as 3 months for $138, and 6 months for $238. Personally, I find that these lease periods are too expensive, so I recommend that you thoroughly test the software on demo account, before moving to a live license.
Recently, we’ve seen many EA’s trying to accommodate to multiple currencies, but in this case we are looking at the EURUSD pair. Personally, I find more success with Forex robots that focus on just a couple of pairs at a time.
One of the main issues I have with most MQL5 programs is the lack of verified trading results. Sadly, this trend is continued with the Grid Hero software as the development team strictly provides us with images of back tests. While these back tests are certainly impressive, with the majority of them going from 2004 to 2017, this doesn’t account for live trading data, and that’s where trades are either won or lost.
My recommendation here, is that the development team takes their accounts and uploads them to either FX Blue or Myfxbook. This will go a long way in allowing us to further analyze the trading results, and get a better understanding of how the software works. Until I see some data, I won’t be able to stomach spending $488.
So far, there are 13 reviews for the Grid Hero EA, and they are all 5 star recommedations. This is a very good sign, and one of the reviews even said that the real trading is just like the back tests, which conflicts with what I was saying in the trading results section.
Seeing this many positive reviews certainly makes me want to give this more of a chance.
I still want to see live trading results, but this is a step in the right direction.
While I’m generally very scared by grid trading systems, the Grid Hero, in the short term, looks to have a more advanced methodology that limits the risk. As always, I do hope that I can see some real trading accounts in the near future, and then I will look into testing the system on my own.
Until then, please leave your comments and questions about the software below the article now. Thank you for stopping by, and feel free to message me anytime.
